TAC Enterprises - A Complete History
In 1960 the first educational school in the world for the mentally disabled was dedicated as the Town and Country School in Springfield, OH. A part of the school was the Adult Vocational Training Program. This program was renamed the Town & Country Sheltered Workshop in 1966. After a series of expansions to larger facilities, the workshop was incorporated in 1983 as TAC Industries.
As the number of enrollees increased more space was secured and new customers were added. In 1982 additional space was added with the purchase of a former department store on Leffel Lane. This facility was to be known as TAC II. TAC I was located on Thompson Ave. As the program continued to grow and the enrollees increased, TAC I moved first to Columbus Ave. and then finally in 2003 to the present location at 2160 Old Selma Road.
In 2008 TAC II changed its name to Quest. Quest employs 208 consumers at the Leffel facility. In 2009 TAC Industries changed its name to TAC Enterprises. TAC employs 319 consumers at the Old Selma location. This does not include production training staff and business support staff.
