TAC Farms was formed to create sustainable and meaningful jobs for people with disabilities. We are committed to locally growing superior quality produce which is always fresh, clean and handled in a safe manner.
High quality specialty crops – fancy lettuces and culinary herbs – are grown in a controlled environment greenhouse using the most recent technology in soilless, or hydroponic, growing systems.
What is hydroponics?
Hydroponics is growing plants in soilless, inert media, and adding water soluble nutrients containing all the essential elements needed by the plant for optimum growth and development.
Hydroponic growing methods use no harmful chemicals including pesticides, insecticides, or herbicides. Insect and disease control are accomplished by using all-natural control methods which are safe to the environment.
The hydroponic method used by TAC Farms also conserves our precious water resources, using only about one tenth of the water that is normally used in open field agriculture. Fertilizer needs are reduced as well, keeping costs lower and waste materials to a minimum.
