Springfield, Ohio – The First Ohio A-Team Chapter will be hosting their Kickoff event Sunday, March 3rd from 12:00pm to 3:00pm at Victory Lanes during TAC- The Abilities Connection’s 5th Annual Bowl-o-Rama. The A-Team is a 16 state wide grassroots effort that believes in and advocates for people with disabilities and their right to choose where they want to live, work and spend their leisure time. “My Work, My Choice” is one of the main areas of focus for the A-Team.
The A-Team operates on three tiers – Advocacy, Awareness, and Advisement. With these three tiers as the foundation on which the A-Team operates, their goal is to grow their current team and continue to bring awareness to the issues surrounding their community. With the current proposal of limiting facility based employment, such as TAC provides to 24 months, this formation has come at a crucial time.
“We are so excited to join people from 16 States in this grassroots advocacy movement to safeguard hard won opportunities for citizens with the most significant disabilities,” team member Mary Brandstetter has said in regards to the formation of the A-Team. “Today, these people have a good array of options for employment and day services. Some of the most crucial are under threat of ending. Together our voice is louder and stronger.”
The A-Team encourages everyone to stop by Victory Lanes on March 3rd from 12:00pm to 3:00pm to learn more about the A-Team and how to become involved. Tickets are limited, but still available for Bowl-o-Rama that day if you have any interest in participating in bowling. You may contact Vickie Shaftner at 937-525-7488 for Bowl-o-Rama details
